The National President of the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG), Solae Razak, has made a seminal announcement regarding the impending disbursement of overdue allowances to teacher trainees in public colleges of education.

In a recent communiqué, Razak exhorted trainees to ensure their e-zwich cards are in order, as the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) is finalizing arrangements to disburse allowances for the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year.

This development has alleviated the uncertainty and trepidation that had gripped trainees, who had not received allowances for the entire second semester amidst the change in government.

Razak’s announcement has rekindled optimism and buoyed the spirits of trainees.

According to credible sources, the SLTF is expected to disburse two months’ worth of arrears this week, pending final arrangements.

Although the Mahama-led administration has included the cancellation of trainee allowances in its manifesto, the implementation date remains uncertain.

Reassuringly, reliable information suggests that arrears will be disbursed to trainees and principals before any potential changes take effect.

GES QUICKnews SPREAD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on the payment of trainee allowances.
