‘Take care of this baby as your child’ – Sad as Mother dumps baby at pastor’s doorstep with a note
An unidentified mother took a heart-wrenching step by leaving her day-old baby girl at the doorstep of a pastor, entrusting the pastor and whoever found the baby to care for her as their own child.
The incident took place on Sunday, July 16, 2023, in Ahodwo, a suburb of Kpong in the Lower Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region. The resident pastor of the New Covenant Apostolic church discovered the infant.
A note accompanying the baby indicated that she was born the previous day, Saturday, July 15. In the note, the remorseful and anonymous mother expressed her deep regret but explained that she felt it was the only option to give her innocent baby a chance at life.
The heartbreaking note also revealed the mother’s belief that she would not survive long enough for anyone to find her abandoned child. The circumstances surrounding her actions and potential self-harm remain unclear.
The note stated, “By the time you will finish reading this letter, I will be dead and gone, please take care of this baby as your own child. Please, I regret doing this, but that is the only way this baby can have a chance to live. Please, she was born just yesterday night. Please take care of her. I’m sorry; please forgive me. God bless you.”
The discovery of the abandoned newborn and the accompanying note has deeply saddened the entire community. The local police in Kpong have initiated an investigation into the incident to gather more information and determine the circumstances surrounding the mother and her baby.
The plight of this innocent child serves as a reminder of the challenges some individuals face and the importance of compassion and support within communities.
