The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced the examination dates for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates.
The examination is scheduled to take place from Monday, June 9, to Monday, June 16, 2025. This examination will be administered by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and will mark the second time the exam is based on the new Common Core Curriculum.

Key Examination Dates
The examination will span eight days, with six active exam days. Although the official timetable is yet to be released by WAEC, a projected timetable is available, which suggests the following exam schedule:
June 9, 2025: English Language and Religious and Moral Education
June 10, 2025: Integrated Science and Computing
June 11, 2025: Social Studies and Creative Arts and Design
Preparation and Registration Guidelines.
The GES has instructed Regional Directors of Education to disseminate this information to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education. These directors are expected to communicate the dates to all heads of basic and senior high schools, ensuring adequate preparation for the examinations.
Registration Phases
The 2025 BECE registration details are yet to be released, but it’s expected to be divided into three phases:
β’Phase 1: Biodata and Subject registration
β’Phase 2: Schools will forward the continuous assessment of learners to WAEC
β’Phase 3: School selection phase, carried out after the examination
Number of Subjects and Examination Schedule
Students can take a minimum of 8 subjects and a maximum of 9 subjects, with 10 subjects administered by WAEC. Students who write Arabic will be the last batch of candidates to complete their examination on June 16, 2025.
