‘Once the economy improves, we’ll pay you better’ – Mahama assures workers

President John Dramani Mahama has assured workers that better pay is on the horizon once the economy recovers. This promise comes as the government has agreed to a 10% wage hike for public sector employees.
Mahama emphasized the need for patience and collective effort in rebuilding the economy, which has been severely impacted by the current economic crisis. He proposed establishing an independent emoluments committee to determine salaries for all workers, including the President.
The President’s commitment to improving the economy and workers’ wages is part of his broader vision to increase economic growth, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Ghanaians.
Mahama made these comments during a National Tripartite Committee meeting at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs, and Employment. He urged labor unions to be moderate in their wage demands for 2025, promising that once the economy stabilizes, he will support higher remuneration for workers.
