The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the introduction of new fees for Ghana Card services at select premium registration centers.

The announcement was made on the NIA’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Fees for Premium Services

The new fees, which took effect in May 2024, are as follows:

First-time registration: GHC 310.00

Record updates: GHC 310.00

Card replacement: GHC 420.00

Simultaneous record updates and card replacement: GHC 355.00

Nationality updates: GHC 365.00

These fees apply exclusively to premium registration centers. First-time issuance of the Ghana Card remains free for all applicants, but those opting for premium centers will need to pay the respective fees.

Alternative Options

Card replacements at district offices nationwide will cost GHC 125.00, while first-time issuance at these offices remains free of charge.

The Ghana Card: A Critical National Identity Document.

The Ghana Card serves as the official national identity card, providing proof of identity, citizenship, and residency. It incorporates biometric data for secure authentication. Since its launch, the Ghana Card has become essential for various government services, banking, healthcare, and electoral processes.

Registration Milestones

To date, over 18 million Ghanaians have been registered. In 2024, the NIA extended card issuance to Ghanaians living abroad, with the first card issued in Ottawa, Canada.
