WAEC Appoints Dr. Rosemond Wilson as New Head of Ghana National Office

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Rosemond Wilson as the new Head of its Ghana National Office. Dr. Wilson succeeds Mrs. Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey, who has retired after a distinguished career.

Dr. Wilson, who joined WAEC in 1997, brings over 27 years of experience in educational assessment to her new role. Before her appointment, she was acting Head of the Test Development Division.

Her career began in the early 1990s as a Mathematics tutor at Baidoo Bonsoe Senior High Technical School and Tarkwa Senior High School. Over the years, Dr. Wilson has held various leadership roles within WAEC, including leading the Mathematics Section, Post Examinations Department, and Test Development Division.

Dr. Wilson is known for her dedication to improving examination processes and quality. She has also played a key role in developing policies that enhance the effectiveness of test administration.

Her academic background includes a BSc. in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, two Master’s Degrees (MSc. in Statistics and M.A. in Measurement and Evaluation) from the University of Cape Coast, and a PhD. in Mathematics Education from the University of Education, Winneba. She has also presented at numerous conferences on mathematics education.

In her new role, Dr. Wilson is excited to uphold the high standards of WAEC and to drive innovations that will improve the reliability of examinations. She aims to strengthen stakeholder engagement and maintain WAEC Ghana’s reputation for excellence.

Dr. Wilson is married and has two adult children.
