NaCCA Collaborates with Publishers on Revised Senior High Curriculum
Strengthening Educational Resources for Effective Curriculum Implementation

On February 13, 2025, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) convened an interactive session with publishers, content developers, and writers at the British Council in Accra.
The engagement aimed to provide stakeholders with a clear and in-depth understanding of the revised curriculum for Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and STEM education.
The discussions were led by Professor Yayra Dzakadzie, Director-General of NaCCA, alongside Mr. Reginald George Quartey, Director of the Curriculum Directorate, and Madam Joana Vanderpuije, Director of the Instructional Resource Directorate.
They elaborated on the curriculumβs structure, subject groupings, assessment methods, and integration of learning content. A key focus of the new curriculum is the promotion of competency-based education, designed to cultivate analytical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
βOur mission is to equip students with the expertise and competencies required to excel in the modern world,β Mr. Quartey emphasized.
To facilitate a smooth transition, participants were given access to digital curriculum resources, including subject guidelines, teacher manuals, and learning materials.
In his concluding remarks, Professor Dzakadzie acknowledged the critical role of publishers in shaping educational content, highlighting their influence in bridging national policy with practical classroom instruction.
βThe responsibility of translating curriculum policies into well-structured, engaging, and pedagogically effective materials rests heavily on publishers,β he stated.
He stressed that the effectiveness of the curriculum hinges on the quality and relevance of instructional resources. Publishers were urged to ensure their materials reflect accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and inclusivity.
Professor Dzakadzie further called for ongoing collaboration between NaCCA and the publishing sector to guarantee that all educational materials align with the national vision for secondary education.
