The Ghana Education Service (GES) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) have announced a joint monitoring exercise to assess the implementation of new internal assessment practices in selected Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and STEM institutions across Ghana.

This exercise, scheduled to take place from February 10 to February 14, 2025, aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the new internal assessment procedures introduced as part of the 2024/2025 SHS/SHTS/STEM curriculum.

Objectives of the Monitoring Exercise.

β€’ Ensure the effective execution of internal assessment procedures

β€’Gather information to enhance assessment processes and practices

β€’Engage with school management, Year 1 teachers, and students to provide guidance and support

Key Details

β€’Two representatives from both GES and WAEC will visit selected schools to interact with stakeholders and assess the implementation of internal assessment practices

β€’Regional Directors of Education have been instructed to notify Heads of Schools about the planned visits

β€’Schools are expected to cooperate fully with the monitoring team to ensure the success of the exercise
