Kofi Agyepong Resigns as YEA CEO

Kofi Baah Agyepong, the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has announced his resignation, effective January 24, 2025. In a letter to President John Dramani Mahama, he attributed his decision to personal commitments and future aspirations.
Reflecting on his tenure, Mr. Agyepong described his role as βan honor and a privilege,β adding, βThis decision allows me to refocus on personal priorities while ensuring a smooth transition for the agency.β
He expressed gratitude to President Mahama and extended his best wishes, stating, βI trust in the continued success of YEA and remain confident in its role in addressing youth unemployment.β
During his leadership, Mr. Agyepong prioritized initiatives to combat unemployment by enhancing vocational and entrepreneurial opportunities for Ghanaian youth. His tenure was marked by efforts to create sustainable employment solutions across the country.
Mr. Agyepong assured a seamless handover process and indicated his willingness to assist with any immediate concerns during the transition.
As YEA continues its vital mission of tackling unemployment, the agency now faces the challenge of identifying a successor to build on the progress made under Mr. Agyepongβs stewardship. The government has yet to announce his replacement.
