Former Education Minister Yaw Osei Adutwum has highlighted the significant strides made in Ghana’s education sector during his tenure. Notably, he revealed that every teacher in Ghana received a laptop, a move aimed at enhancing their teaching capabilities and promoting digital literacy.

Adutwum also emphasized the importance of equipping students with the necessary tools to succeed in the digital age. To this end, his administration prioritized the distribution of tablets to Senior High School (SHS) students, particularly first-year students. This initiative was designed to provide students with access to digital resources, including e-books, which were downloaded onto the tablets.

The distribution of tablets and e-books was part of a broader effort to modernize Ghana’s education system. Adutwum’s administration also developed a new curriculum, made possible by funding from the Mastercard Foundation. This new curriculum is being implemented in schools across the country, with a focus on promoting critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Furthermore, Adutwum highlighted the innovative use of technology in teacher training and assessment. Teachers are being trained to use AI-driven assessment portals, which enable instant grading of student essays and provide immediate feedback. This integration of artificial intelligence is enhancing the learning process, allowing teachers to focus on providing guidance and support to their students.

Overall, Adutwum’s legacy in the education sector is marked by a commitment to innovation, equity, and excellence. His administration’s initiatives have laid the foundation for a more modern, inclusive, and effective education system in Ghana.
