The Ghana Education Ministry has addressed concerns regarding the reporting date for Senior High School (SHS) first-year students.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Ministry spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng clarified that academic activities will officially commence on November 7, contrary to earlier reports suggesting a start date of October 30.

Kwarteng explained that October 30 marks the beginning of registration and orientation, designed to facilitate a smoother transition for students.

This period allows for flexibility and adequate preparation. Prospective students have a one-week grace period and can register online, ensuring all students can prepare adequately for their new academic environment.

The Ministry has introduced a harmonized prospectus, streamlining the process of acquiring essential items and reducing the burden on parents and students.

This initiative eliminates the need for multiple school trips, making it more convenient for families to purchase necessary supplies.

Kwarteng emphasized the distinction between registration and academic activities, reassuring parents and students that necessary measures are in place for a successful academic year. He encouraged parents and students to remain calm and well-informed.

The Ministry’s efforts aim to alleviate pressures on students and families during the transition to SHS. As the start date approaches, parents and students are advised to stay informed and take advantage of the resources available.
