A group of frustrated parents and students stormed the Kumasi office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, demanding the immediate release of withheld results from the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The affected students, mostly from T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, are unable to proceed with university admissions due to the withheld results, which is jeopardizing their academic futures.
Reports indicate that over 2,000 students from the school have been affected, and WAEC had instructed them to report to the regional office to verify whether they had engaged in any form of malpractice during the exams.
However, upon arrival, they were met with silence from WAEC officials, prompting them to demand urgent answers.
The parents are urging WAEC to expedite the process and make their final decision promptly to prevent further disruptions in the students’ education.
This development comes after WAEC had earlier announced that withheld results from the 2024 WASSCE would be released after a “review period” of four to eight weeks.
