2024 Standardized Test for Basic 4 and 6

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the schedule for the 2024 National Standardized Test (NST) for Basic 4 and 6 students. This assessment aims to evaluate English language proficiency and mathematics skills, providing valuable data on education outcomes in these core subjects.

Exam Schedule

  • Basic 4 Learners:
    • Date: July 23, 2024
    • Subjects: English Language and Mathematics
  • Basic 6 Learners:
    • Date: July 24, 2024
    • Subjects: English Language and Mathematics

Purpose of the Test

The NST is designed to:

  • Assess students’ proficiency in English language and mathematics.
  • Provide the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders with data on educational standards and learning outcomes.
  • Help in measuring the effectiveness of the curriculum and the overall quality of education in Ghana.

Preparation and Implementation

  • Preparation: Teachers are advised to thoroughly revise with their students to ensure they are well-prepared for the examination.
  • Implementation: The GES has put measures in place to ensure a smooth testing process, including the provision of test materials, invigilators, and necessary resources.
  • Stakeholder Involvement: Parents, teachers, schools, and learners are encouraged to actively participate in the pre-, during, and post-test activities to ensure the success of the assessment.
