Daily mninimum wage increased from GHS18.15 to GHS19.97; GHS599.1 monthly effective March 1

The National Tripartite Committee (NTC) has concluded discussions in Accra on Thursday, February 20, 2025, and reached a consensus on the new minimum wage rate for Ghana. In accordance with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the NTC has announced a 10% increase in the daily minimum wage, effective March 1, 2025.
The new daily minimum wage rate is GHS19.97, which translates to GHS599.10 per month, calculated over a 30-day period. This adjustment takes into account the current economic challenges, the rising cost of living, the viability of businesses, and the objective of promoting employment growth.
The NTC has issued a directive that all establishments, institutions, or organisations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rate should adjust their wages accordingly, effective March 1, 2025. Failure to comply with this directive will result in legal penalties.
Furthermore, the NTC has recommended that the 2025 National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) be tax-exempt to alleviate the financial burden on minimum wage earners.
This new minimum wage rate follows the previous year’s adjustment, which raised the minimum wage to GHS18.15 per day on January 1, 2024.
