Over 5,000 trained teachersβ national service in limbo

The National Service registration of over 5,000 trained teachers has been put on hold due to the expired accreditation status of their institutions.
According to the National Service Authority (NSA), only 14 out of 36 Colleges of Education have active accreditation with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
As a result, 5,336 trained teachers are unable to proceed with their registration process until their institutions resolve the accreditation issue. These teachers are part of the 9,082 trained teachers who were successfully uploaded into the system for the 2025/2026 service year.
Furthermore, 7,077 trained teachers are yet to be processed due to the lack of required cover letters from their institutions. The NSA has announced the release of pin codes, but the affected teachers will not be able to access them until the accreditation issue is resolved.
This development has raised concerns about the impact on the education sector and the future of these trained teachers. Efforts are being made to address the accreditation issue and ensure that these teachers can proceed with their national service.
