NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON FREE SHS ALIGNS WITH OUR VISION – CePTOM

The Centre for Performance Tracking and Outcome Mapping (CePTOM) has expressed its support for President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign promise to convene a national consultative conference on education.
According to CePTOM, this initiative aligns perfectly with their long-time advocacy for a comprehensive national dialogue to re-examine the free Senior High School (SHS) programme’s implementation and sustainability.
CePTOM recommends that the national dialogue should evaluate the successes and challenges of the free SHS programme, identify sustainable funding models, and address disparities between urban and rural schools.
The organization also suggests adopting the outcome mapping approach, which engages all stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, policymakers, and development partners.
The Executive Director of CePTOM, Andrews Kwasi Frimpong, emphasized the importance of unity among stakeholders to safeguard Ghana’s future through sustainable education reforms.
He noted that while the free SHS programme has increased access to education, it has also faced challenges such as overcrowding, resource constraints, and unequal access.
CePTOM’s stance on the national dialogue is significant, as it highlights the need for a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges facing Ghana’s education sector.
By engaging all stakeholders, the national dialogue can help identify effective solutions to ensure the sustainability and success of the free SHS programme.
